Meet Yeti, The Star Of My First Slumberkins Book!

Last year, Slumberkins selected me to illustrate 2 of their children's books. Now, in addition to continuing to provide them with my services, I am also a loyal client and an advocate.

The Slumberkins books are what my kids were missing, books that facilitate their emotional learning and spark a conversation about how they feel.

Working with companies, I often witness them struggling with the creative process. However, the creative brief at Slumberkins is extremely well-organized. Their kickoff meetings are full of energy and they have a well-defined style. Their texts are well-edited and their timeline is realistic (imagine? ). They also provide very precise and to-the-point feedback, so I know what they want and when they want it by. Best of all, they send a monthly reminder to their illustrators to submit any pending invoices—a true dream client!

The book is about slowing down, being mindful, and dealing with emotions and anxiety in a healthy way. I love the way it was written so simply, not only for kids but in such a way that adults can find value in it too.

I’m so happy with how the illustrations came out and I’m really proud to have been a part of this project.

The Mindfulness Collection teaches children about slowing down and paying attention, with all our senses, to what is happening in the moment. Practicing mindfulness enhances concentration, reduces stress and improves mood.

The Self-Acceptance Collection teaches little ones perseverance and coping skills for perfectionism. Yak's story reminds children that they are enough, just as they are, and they don't need to be perfect to love themselves.
